WORSHIP and Bible Study
Our worship is best described as casual/traditional. Our focus is simply discovering ways to deepen our relationship with God and with each other. We seldom use a screen in worship because our hymnal has both traditional hymns and contemporary worship choruses. The worship typically follows a theme. For example, if the pastor’s message is about grace, the hymns, prayers, readings, choir special all follow that same theme. The message is always relevant. We do celebrate Lent, Holy Week, Advent and other liturgical worship seasons.
Most Sundays our pastor wears a suit and tie, and our associate minister dresses more casually. This way our guests see both casual and traditional dress from the staff. We want you to feel comfortable wearing whatever you choose to worship.
Pelham Road Baptist Church has Bible study classes for all ages that meet at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Children and youth classes are age graded. In the adult classes, we are not concerned about age ranges. We prefer people find the class they like, and the teaching style they prefer. Find the place that best meets your needs! Click on the appropriate age link to the left to learn more about Sunday options.

MUSIC
You are free to participate in all of our music ministries. The Sanctuary Choir meets on Wednesday nights from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. The choir sings a variety of music to fit the pastor’s message each week. It may be a traditional hymn arrangement, a southern gospel piece, a contemporary chorus, or something in between. Mostly, we want our music to be sung from the heart. Choir rehearsal is often a worship service in itself. We do tend to laugh as much as we rehearse. Our rehearsals are lighthearted. We end each hour in prayer for each other, our friends, and congregation.

Our handbell choir meets on Wednesdays from 6:45 p.m. – 7:30. You do have to know how to read music to participate. |
Our children learn music on Wednesday’s from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. during “M & Ms.” Missions and Music.
Our youth group is made up of primarily boys who don’t like to sing. So occasionally on Sunday nights our youth group will learn a choreographed piece using long dowel rods. We call it our “stick ministry.” It’s fun to do and moving to watch.
SENIOR ADULTS
Our senior adults are a close knit group. They connect through their Bible Study classes on Sunday. Many of our seniors live in Rolling Green Village, so they see each other daily. We provide bus transportation from Rolling Green to our church services and events.
Sam Coates, our associate, plans monthly outings for our seniors. Recently they have gotten apples in Hendersonville, NC, gone to see the gingerbread houses at Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC and had lunch together at Sam’s house while watching the movie Julie and Julia. Our seniors volunteer at the Eastside Crisis Center and other community ministries in Greenville. Pelham Road is small enough for our Seniors to know our youth and young adults and for them to know our Seniors.
