We encourage our people to take initiative. They can begin a mission project or affirm and participate in numerous projects already in place. For the past four summers, we have planted a small garden to grow vegetables for distribution through Triune Mercy Center. We also prepare a monthly meal and serve it to the homeless. Each summer youth and adults take a mission pilgrimage; in the summer of 2016 it was to Ft Lauderdale, Fla. In the spring we often participate in a missions weekend in Allendale, South Carolina.
The disciples at Pelham Road often dream and create their own mission. In recent years we have had members go to Africa to dig fresh water wells and start schools, others have gone to Brazil, another works with the Frazee Center for youth in Greenville, and yet another has started a garden to provide fresh vegetables to the organizations listed above.
Whether your next step is to dream your own dream, give money to a project, or participate in a local or global mission trip, we encourage you to make the decision to put a foot forward and take a step to go into God’s world. Serving people will challenge you to stretch and grow in your love and faith.
