On October 5, 1975, in a little house on Pelham Road, a mission church celebrated their constitution.  From that tiny, committed congregation to now, the people of Pelham Road Baptist Church have faithfully followed Jesus.  Follow our history from conception to now as we honor where we came from and lean forward into the future.

On October 4-5, 2025 we will be celebrating fifty years of ministry.  Special reunions, music, a celebration banquet and a special worship service are being planned.

Celebrating the Past

Central Baptist to Pelham Road

From the early 70's to the construction of the sanctuary (1988) and the Family Life Center (2000) all activities were held in the little house.  Worship, spiritual formation, fellowship dinners, youth activities, and meetings filled the little house and the modulars that were added.  There was a lot of love and dedication to the kingdom of God within those walls!

Growing and Expanding

Under the leadership of Dr. Ron Rich, this growing congregation needed a larger place to worship. In 1987 construction began on what is now the Worship Center, offices, and Child Development Center.  In 2000, under the leadership of Dr. John Roy, the Family Life Center was constructed.  Through the dreams and dedication of this growing congregation, the buildings for ministry and community outreach were realized.  But the church is more than buildings!

Embracing the Future

The Worship Center and Family Life Center are used seven days a week by our Child Development Center, different congregations, community groups, sports teams, recovery groups, special interest groups, and more.

Outside the church we serve at/support the Triune Mercy Center, Greer Relief, the Julie Valentine Center, and a variety of ministries special to individual members.  Youth serve in the community, and through mission trips in the wider Upstate/North Carolina area.

The little church that started as a mission has taken root and grown to a body of believers deeply committed to serve Christ in the community and world.  We embrace the future and invite YOU to join us!
